Our MakerBot Replicator 2X 3D printer currently has the capability to print ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic. Extruded filament sizes are: 0.1 mm (high quality), 0.2 mm (standard quality) and 0.3 mm (lower quality). So far the printer has been used to create a coil housing, a silicon mold, and a microreactor, among other items. Before using the 3D printer, make sure your files are either in an .stl format or an .obj format. MakerWare, available for free online, is used to format the files for printing.
We are currently recruiting graduate students that will help build our research group. If you are a motivated, bright young mind and have an interest in understanding fundamental physics concerning a variety of transport phenomena, please feel free to contact Travis directly for details on possible projects.
